Netto — Modernization of Video Surveillance System (CCTV)
Wyzwanie
The distribution center belonging to the retail chain needed a thorough modernization of the outdated CCTV Monitoring System. The existing infrastructure no longer met security or image quality requirements. The customer presented detailed guidelines for the new system: the cameras were to cover all loading docks and the space in front of the docks, to ensure a full 360° monitoring of the external circuit (fencing) of the facility, as well as meet health and safety requirements (including equipping the pressure container for waste with a mechanism for automatic stopping of work when a person is detected inside). Additionally excellent image quality expected at night, comparable to daily, and implementation license plate recognition system vehicles entering the site (ANPR) to automatically record traffic and control the barrier. Monitoring was supposed to track every entry and exit, recording who and when was in the square and for how long. The Challenge so it consisted in designing and installing a modern system that would meet all these criteria in the existing facility, integrating with the logistics procedures of the center.
Rozwiązanie
We have carried out Comprehensive modernization of the CCTV system in the distribution center, providing infrastructure tailored to the customer's requirements. The project selected high-resolution IP cameras adapted to work at night (with advanced lighting and night mode), placing them in such a way as to cover all critical areas: loading/unloading docks, manoeuvring areas in front of the docks and the entire perimeter of the fence. 360° rotating cameras are installed on the fence to ensure full surveillance of the site. With the existing pressure container a special sensor and a mechanism for shutting off the power supply in case of detection of unwanted presence inside is implemented, which automatically stops the work of the crusher for safety. In addition, we have integrated the system Automatic Vehicle Identification (ANPR) — the entry and exit cameras read the registration numbers of the trucks, and the software compares them with the base and automatically opens the barrier for registered cars and records the time of entry/departure. All cameras have been incorporated into a new high-capacity central recorder for continuous image recording and easy retrieval of recordings. Our role covered the full range of activities: from system audit and design, through hardware installation, software configuration, to commissioning and training of security personnel. The new system is modular and scalable, which means that in the future it can be expanded with more cameras or functions without replacing the whole.
Efekty biznesowe
After modernization, the distribution center gained a much higher level of security and operational control. Thanks to full coverage of the area with cameras, “dead zones” are eliminated - every loading zone, every fragment of the square and fence is monitored, which minimizes the risk of theft of goods and intrusions by outsiders. Modern cameras give a sharp image even at night, so events after dark are recorded in useful quality (identification of people, registration numbers, etc. is possible 24/7). Automation of entry services has improved logistics: van drivers do not have to wait for security to open the barrier, which has speeded up the entry process and freed security staff from routine activities. Health and Safety Standard has been raised — the safety mechanism in the waste crusher meets the requirements and increases the protection of workers. In addition, the new system is unified with the standards of the entire network, which facilitates management — the solution used in this center can now be easily replicated in subsequent locations (standardization). In general, the company has obtained a modern surveillance tool that not only protects property and people, but also streamlines work (less downtime, faster problem identification, video evidence in case of complaints or incidents).
Technologie
Advanced applied CCTV IP Monitoring System consisting of fixed and rotating cameras with high resolution (Full HD) with night mode (IR/infrasound) providing a picture comparable to daytime. The ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system has been integrated into the entrance cameras — dedicated software analyzes the image and recognizes license plates, automatically controlling the barrier and recording vehicle entry/exit logs. Security sensor installed in the pressure container is connected to the alarm control panel — at the moment of detection of movement inside the machine, it automatically turns off the power supply of the device and sends an alert for protection. The entire system is managed by a central DVR/NVR with an intuitive interface, also available remotely for security managers. The network infrastructure has been adapted to transmit a large amount of video data (fiber optics and gigabit switches are used if necessary). The solution is ready for future expansion — you can attach additional modules (cameras, sensors) and configure them remotely, which makes it easier to maintain and update the system.
Kluczowe korzyści
- Full coverage and no dead zones: The new monitoring ensures the observation of all key areas of the distribution center (docks, squares, fence), which Significantly increases safety stored goods and workers.
- Modern automation: Features such as automatic plate recognition and barrier control have improved access control. The entry/exit process is faster and does not require continuous human handling, allowing security personnel to focus on surveillance and responding to possible incidents.
- Scalability and future-proofness: The solution used has a modular structure — The system can be expandedAdditional cameras or features (e.g. video analytics, motion detection, alarm integration) as new needs arise. Configuration can be done remotely, which reduces the cost and time of possible upgrades in the future.
- High quality and reliability: Modernization of the outdated system to current standards ensured high image quality and reliability of the operation of the whole. The new cameras and devices meet strict standards, and the standardization of the system has increased its ease of operation and maintenance (standardization of hardware and software).
Oszczędności
The investment in the new system resulted in operational savings. Automation of certain processes (e.g. registration of vehicles at the gate) has made it possible to reduce the workload of staff — fewer workers are needed for manual monitoring and operation, which reduces labor costs in the long run. Time saving is significant: drivers handle formalities at the gate more efficiently and incidents are identified and resolved more quickly, reducing downtime in the centre's operations. Full real-time monitoring and event recording prevent losses — theft or unauthorized entry has been almost eliminated, which protects the company from the costs of loss of goods or damage. Thanks to the new system, the risk of costly accidents or violations of health and safety regulations, which could result in sanctions, is also reduced. Better control is Less unforeseen expenses and more stable operation of the object.
